And IronMan is...

Robert Downey Jr!!! Tony Stark and RDJ have a lot in common - they both had alcohol issues - they both have shades of grey - they are popular with women (I think!)

However, I've always imagine Tony Stark to be this suave playboy - a sophisticated socialite - and that goatee is an integral part of his persona. I have my doubts on whether RDJ will be able to carry the goatee off!

Attack of the Gigantic Insect

Sharp-eyed Google Earth monitors have this morning alerted Vulture Central to the threat posed to humanity by a giant earwig which is as we speak rampaging its way across the German countryside.

The Register's guide on how to deal with the situation:

Don't panic.
Hide under the stairs.
Keep a flamethrower close to hand, if you have one.
Keep a nuke-bearing stealth aircraft fuelled and armed, if you have one.
Do not attempt to advance single-handedly upon the insect army quoting passages from the bible. The Godless Communist hoards will simply dissolve you with their death ray.
Do not come out until you are told it is safe to do so, or your bratwurst supplies are exhausted, whichever comes sooner.

Smallville Season 6 Spoilers!!!

Thanks to AICN, here's the Smallville scoop.

BEWARE!! SPOILERS FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON AHEAD!!
In five seasons, “Smallville” has introduced us to a handful of icons habitating the sprawling DC Universe: Not just Lois, Clark, Perry, Lana, Pete, Jonathan, Martha, Brainiac and Lex, but also Victor “Cyborg” Stone, Bartholomew “Flash” Allen, Arthur “Aquaman” Curry and Adam “Fake Batman” Knight.
But this season we get Ollie “The Green Arrow” Queen, who’s going to turn up in at least seven episodes to invite Clark to join his exciting Legion of Justice! Or something. Jimmy Olsen finally shows his face as well.
In the meantime, Lex is Zod and Clark is trapped in Krypton’s terrifying extradimensional space prison, the Phantom Zone. Maybe he’ll meet and fall in love with Tinya Wazzo’s great great grandma!
He may not be in the Phantom Zone very long, because Clark discovers “super-breath” in 6.2.
6.3 sees Ollie dons a Robin Hood costume and dates Lois. But 6.4 is the one titled “Arrow.”
6.5 is titled “Subterranean,” so I’m guessing the those pesky Mole Men turn up.
In 6.6 we learn that Lex and Ollie went to the same rich-kid boarding school together, and they got on like superhero and supervillain.
According to a recent piece by TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello, 6.11 (the season’s midpoint) will be the first Justice League episode, uniting Clark Kent with Queen, Stone, Allen and Curry.

This is so frustrating - I am stuck at 5.18 -> Need to get access to the rest of the episodes; maybe buy the Season 5 dvd box pack. Oh, we don't get that here in India.

Arrrgghhh

Halo, Peter Jackson

Peter LOTR Jackson is going to be developing a new Halo game. Its not related to Halo 3 which is under development as you read this. Ensemble studios is prepping an RTS version of Halo. And ofcourse, we already have a Halo movie under production.

Hellloooo Halo :)

Superman fights piracy in China!

And the headline was a the truth with a twist. The Superman Returns DVD is being launched 2 months early in China, as compared to the rest of the world to combat piracy.

From shh,

CAV Warner Home Entertainment, a joint entertainment distribution venture between Warner Home Video and China Audio Video, announced today that its aggressive market strategy, in conjunction with the Chinese Ministry of Culture's anti-piracy initiatives, has enabled unprecedented distribution reach for the DVD of Superman Returns. The international blockbuster hit will be released on competitively priced, Mandarin language only DVDs today in China - two months ahead of the rest of the world. The title will be widely available in more than 8,000 outlets, thousands of which had previously only sold pirated Hollywood films.

Hey you WB folks,

Piracy is rampany in India as well. How about an early release here?

However, I am guessing the Chinese market differs from the Indian market since the Chinese would prefer to buy the DVD in their local language, whereas Indians would prefer the English version. Containing the leak of a Mandarin DVD must be a lot easier.

Rumour Mill - Knight Rider

The good news is that Knight Rider the Movie is very much on the cards. The bad news - they may be leaving David Hasselhoff out of this one.

I have never really been a Baywatch fan (which does not neccessarily mean I do not dig hot women in scanty bikinis), but I used to adore Knight Rider as a fan. I definitely am not the only one. They have clubs who are dedicated to doing up the good old Pontiac Trans Ams to look like K.I.T.T. Sme fabrication companies have actually been selling "do it yourself" KITT kits!

When this photograph was leaked on the net, it awakened latent memories of the series. I went and purchased a copy of Knight Rider 2 - The Game by Davilex. Horrible graphics and technology, but the soul of the series is very much there in the game. And therefore, I still play it.

This photo was declared a fake. Oh well, let's wait for the next leak.

All hail the Prime!

Optimus Prime has been revealed to the world!

Ok - so I'm a geek. Giant robots that transform into huge trucks do things to me.

Deal with it. (that was for myself)

I can't wait for this movie to be out. Michael Bay and Don Murphy have been getting a hell lot of flack from the fans - it comes with the territory. Head to http://www.donmurphy.com for more details on the movie.

Yet another electronic device

Source /.

"The Sony Reader, which debuted at CES in January, is now available for purchase on the Sony website. The six inch screen uses E Ink, rather than an LCD, to display the text, reducing strain on the eye while reading. While you can buy books on Sony's Connect site, you can also load eBooks and other text onto the Reader in a variety of formats, including PDF and TXT files. It also comes with the ability to receive newsfeeds, display JPG images, and can play unsecured MP3 and AAC music files. Additional information can also be found on the Learning Center site."

When I leave home, I pick up my mobile phone, my Mp3 player, my digital camera, my personal media player, my portable gaming system and oh yipeee, now I get to carry a Reader. Now, all I need is a Segway to carry me, coz will all these gizmos, I sure cannot carry myself.

Wallop - now?

NBC is reporting that "Wallop, a startup spun out of Microsoft Corp.'s research lab, is launching the test version of an online social networking site with the premise that people will want to pay extra to look good."

Right........

Microsoft had launched a beta of the same under the name of "mywallop.com" more than a year back. The funda was cool - a Flash based creative and intituve GUI. However, there just weren't enough people on it. Hmm, an unsocial - social network - uh uh.. wouldn't work. I played around with the system for a while - but then got tired of playing by myself :)

Head to http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15011765 to get a heads up on the current status of the brand new Wallop.
A story that I have to share - We are so important to ourselves and our little world which encompasses our family, collagues and other branches of the social net. Yet, we are so insignificant in the grand scheme of things - Yet Yet, ONE can make a difference. Read on....

It might seem odd to celebrate a 23rd anniversary but every year since I heard of this man I go out and raise a glass to his memory. In truth you can get most journalists to raise a glass to anything but in this case I’m thanking him for my life.
On 26th September 1983 the hero of the day, Colonel Stanislav Yefgrafovich Petrov, clocked on for work as normal. Petrov was in charge of the Soviet Union’s satellite warning systems and this was the height of the cold war. Everyone was on edge because NATO was carrying out its annual tactical exercises and two weeks before the Soviets had shot down a Korean airliner that had wandered into the wrong airspace.
Meanwhile in the wider picture Ronald Reagan was publicly calling the Soviet Union an ‘Evil Empire’, the warm up man at a UK Conservative party rally had opened with the call to “Bomb Russia” and we had Andropov, a former leader of the KGB, as the current ruler of the Kremlin. Things were, to put it mildly, on a hair trigger.
All in all it was a scary time to be alive. If I hadn’t had the first Sláine series in the comic 2000AD and Duran Duran’s Rio to distract me I’d never have made it through the year without digging a fallout shelter – something plenty of people did.
Anyway, at 40 minutes past midnight on the 26th Petrov looked up and saw a missile launch from a United States silo had been detected by one of his satellites. Now you might expect panic at this point but missile command tends to attract the serious, sober type, probably the type of people who smoke a pipe and sew leather patches on their jackets, and Petrov kept his head.
He knew the satellite had been reported as suspect and decided to hold off on informing the high command. Then a second missile launch was picked up, and shortly after another, and another and another. Petrov knew that if he waited until he could confirm the launches with ground radar it would be too late for his country, he and his family would die and the Yankees would win the Cold War.
Thankfully for us he thought before acting. He reasoned that it was illogical for a surprise attack to launch missiles one after the other – instead you’d launch everything you had and hope to wipe out the enemy before they reacted. He left the launch button alone and thankfully the missiles proved to be ghosts.
Myself and millions other slept peacefully in our beds that night, blissfully unaware of how close we came to fiery death or a worse existence than we could imagine if we had lived. Had the missiles flown Britain would, according to government war plan projections, currently be at a medieval level of technology in most places, having lost 90 per cent of its population.
Petrov was reprimanded and now lives in the scientific community of Fryazino in Russia. He was honoured this year in a ceremony at the United Nations and has been honoured with two World Citizen Awards. So take some time out today and say your private thanks to the man who saved the world.

The Initiation

I am NOT boasting when I claim I live no ordinary life. Then ofcourse, very few people in this world live a very ordinary life. I shall venture to state that those who DO live ordinary lives, infact are not ordinary.

In my moments of idleness, of which I have plenty, I often toy with the idea of writing a book - a book on my escapades. The book would be less about me - and more about my ____ (fill in the blanks with friends, experiences, adventures). I always get stuck at the title. I think I am doing well - I haven't written a word and I am already experiencing a Writer's block!

More on the book later. A few warnings regarding my blog -> I spell like Lois Lane (if you don't know what I'm talking about, you may not relate very well with my blog). I have an extremely short attention span. I get bored easily - which could lead to incomplete stories.
